A student holding this scholarship in one year shall have preference in subsequent years. Preference will be given to graduates or students who obtained a GED in Hamilton, Marion, Sequatchie, Bledsoe, Rhae, Meigs, Bradley counties of TN or Catoosa and Walker counties of GA. Applicants must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA. Scholarships will only cover expenses for tuition, books, and technology fees. Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation to the scholarship committee from their advisor, internship supervisor, non-family member of the CEC, or other qualified and familiar engineer. This scholarship will be awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior engineering or computer science major in good standing. Please use the following link to contact the department for information about how to apply. All awardees must co-present their project at Research Dialogues. A separate application is required. Faculty and/or staff mentors must have been with the university for at least one year and cannot be employed through the Arts-Based Collaborative. The letter must detail how the faculty and/or staff member will support the student's project. A letter of support from the mentoring faculty and/or staff member must be submitted with application materials. Students awarded in one year may reapply for a second year but, reapplication does not guarantee preference for a second year and will be subject to scholarship committee review.Ī 300-word essay on how funds from this scholarship would be used, how their selected art form(s) contributes to their research, and opportunities to disseminate their work through conferences, publications, and/or other appropriate outlets. The student must have a minimum GPA of 2.75. All projects must demonstrate evidence of research or application in and through an artistic discipline. This scholarship will be awarded to a graduate or undergraduate junior student pursuing an interdisciplinary project in which one discipline is an art form. Engineering, business, Brown Stove Works, Cleveland, Bradley County, Meigs County, Polk County, McMinn County A student awarded this scholarship in previous years shall have a preference in the selection procedures in subsequent years and the student maintains a 2.75 GPA. The final preference goes to any resident first of Bradley and then Meigs, Polk, or McMinn counties of Tennessee. The third preference goes to any student transferring from Cleveland State Community College with a 3.0 GPA. Next preference is given to a Cleveland State Community College student desiring to transfer to UTC who is already on a scholarship provided by Brown Stove Works, Inc., provided the transfer student has a 3.0 GPA. A letter from Brown Stove Works, Inc., is required. First preference is given to lineal descendants of current employees with two years of service or a former employee with 25 years of service with Brown Stove Works, Inc. Recipients of this scholarship must have declared a major in either the College of Engineering or the School of Business. This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time student with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
